Importance of Orthodontics During Covid-19
Importance of Seeing the Orthodontist During COVID-19
At Dr. Dann Orthodontics, in Orlando and Winter Park, we understand that the coronavirus pandemic has been a challenging time and has thrown most of us off of our schedules. Although COVID-19 has forced us to change how we operate our daily lives, it is still important to attend all necessary healthcare appointments, including your orthodontic appointments. Our orthodontist and staff want to ensure that your orthodontic treatment is still going to plan and that we are able to make adjustments to benefit your oral health.
Why Should I See the Orthodontist During a Pandemic?
At our orthodontist office in Winter Park, we value and prioritize the health and safety of our patients. Dr. Dann Orthodontics strictly follows all of the COVID-19 guidelines set by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to keep our staff and patients coronavirus free. You can feel confident attending all of our orthodontic appointments with us. If you do miss an appointment or two, you could put your orthodontic treatment in jeopardy, meaning you might need to wear your braces or Invisalign for a longer period of time. We want to avoid this, so we encourage you and your family to attend all of your scheduled orthodontic appointments to keep your orthodontic care on track.
Disease Prevention & Sanitation
As orthodontic healthcare professionals, we are experts in orthodontia, as well as disease prevention and sanitation. At Dr. Dann Orthodontics, our staff have been trained to provide the highest quality care in an office that is safe and disinfected. To combat any type of infectious disease, including coronavirus, we take the following precautions every day:
- Surgical Masks, Protective Eyewear, & Gloves: all of our team members wear masks, eyewear, and gloves to protect themselves and our patients from any type of fluid or germ exchange.
- New Masks with Every Patient: we keep our patients safe by changing our masks between every patient, and sometimes even during a patient’s orthodontics appointment if the mask becomes wet.
- Temperature Checks: each patient's temperature will be taken upon entering the office; any patient with a temperature over 100.4 degrees will be asked to reschedule his or her appointment.
- Staying at Home When Ill: our staff stays at home if they are ever feeling even slightly ill, and we ask the same of our patients.
- Adequate Handwashing: all of our orthodontics team members wash their hands with antimicrobial soap and/or an alcohol-based hand gel. We ask all of our patients to do the same while in our Orlando office; soap and/or alcohol gel is provided.
- Routine Cleaning & Disinfection: at Dr. Dann Orthodontics, we disinfect everything between patient appointments, including surfaces, the orthodontic chair, and we ensure new orthodontic instruments are used.
