Modern Orthodontics Technology

Orthodontics has come a long way in the last 10-20 years. Long ago, the only options were traditional metal braces. Today, there are now numerous options to choose from and different treatment plans that can be customized to fit your lifestyle. Whether it’s Invisalign, lingual braces, or ceramic ones, all are great options to fix your smile. And they’re not the only advancements! Today, orthodontists have the reach to use the best technology on the market right now. At Dr. Dann Orthodontics, we have state-of-the-art equipment that helps give us the most accurate screenings, which in turn give the best results to our patients. Here is what we are utilizing at our practice today.

Top Advances in Orthodontic Technology We Use

  • 3D Digital Imaging & X-Rays- Today, orthodontics can now enjoy better quality, detailed x-rays. This helps orthodontics get a better look at your teeth, and help them plan a customized, better-fitted treatment for you. And because they are digital, orthodontists can gain immediate access to the images, allowing them to share them with you. Also, there are now X-rays that can get a 360 scan of your mouth, reducing you to radiation contact.
  • Digital Impressions & 3D Printers- Instead of manually making impressions, orthodontics can now make digital impressions. They can scan the patient’s mouth and then they can view the impressions on the computer, allowing them to keep them in their files. Digital impressions are also more accurate, reducing the number of fit issues with the braces. They can also take those digital impressions to make physical plastic models with 3D printers.
  • Temporary Anchorage Devices- Temporary anchorage devices are mini implants. They can bridge gaps, or shift more stubborn teeth when braces can’t do it by themselves.
  • CAD/CAM and Robotic Wire Bending Technology- While lingual braces are now a more popular option than ever before, they have been uncomfortable for many in the past. Today, they have become much more bearable with CAD/CAM and robotic wire-bending technology. Getting the brackets and wires on the backs of the teeth used to be challenging for an orthodontist to apply. Today, it is a lot easier to perfect now with robotic wire-bending assistance. More orthodontists are now offering lingual braces at their practice.

These are just some of the technological advancements that we provide at our practice! For more, check out AcceleDent and laser options! These options work great with braces and Invisalign!
